Help Needed, Snaky
Jul. 15th, 2004 01:11 am-I need URLs with pictures of green, patterned, pretty snakes. This, for example, fits everything but the "patterned" requirement. Heck, I'll settle for pointers to snakes that are just pretty and green, but those two requirements are steadfast.
(Am working on the art notes for Banestorm. Began the current section by saying, "If we don't get spectacular art for the racial templates section, I am gonna go postal, promise.")
(Okay, I actually began with, "Try to make half of the characters female." I want to double my royalties, yes indeed.)

their actual snake is greener than she shows in the pic, though she's still a brown/green, not a bright green. But she's definitely pretty.
There are several much brighter green snakes here:

http://www.humboldtredwoods.org/images/snake%20tongue.jpg (If it's not green enough, perhaps photoshop?)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakepix/snakepix1.htm (the one I was looking at is small, though, and the link to larger picture doesn't work, darnit)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/aestivus3.jpg (not patterned, but very pretty, I think)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/aestivus1.jpg (ditto)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/cyrtopsis2.jpg (more of a yellow/brown/olive stripy patterning)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/wribbon1.jpg (Dark green and yellow striping)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/sipedon1.jpg (green and yellow zebra striping, essentially) I think it's a northern water snake. There are a couple more like him at http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakepix/snakepix4.htm .

http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/bull7.jpg (another of the black/yellow/olive fellows)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/snakes/yellowrat1.jpg (sort of a green-tinted gold, but very pretty! The scales shine like gems or gold.)
http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/Venomous/schlegeli.jpg (the patterning is the way the scales work; nifty! Also very green.)
As an aside, http://spongebob.ncsa.uiuc.edu/mike/lobby.html#Harmless%20Snakes has a usage policy thing. Up to your conscience whether "like this!" URL references counts. O;>
http://arizonaes.fws.gov/images/JRorabaugh/05-30-2000/ReptilesB/Green%20rat%20snake.jpg (green, no pattern)
http://www.cnn.com/interactive/space/0209/gallery.critters/content.3.html (says it's brown, but looks olive green to me, with some patterning)
http://www.bome.com/Restorator/help/tutorials/snake.jpg (bright green, large, light-green patterning on it; head looks rather draconic)
http://www.plokta.com/plokta/issue24/snake.jpg (not much green, probably, but it's hatching! The cute!)
http://chemistry.org/portal/resources/ACS/ACSContent/wondernet/images/snake.jpg (green with yellow spotting)
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~vern/fletcher/SNAKE_1.GIF (Green with weird blue patterning; may be photoshoppy)
http://www.nickgordon.com/gallery/pages/Parrot-snake.htm (GREEN! With some faint blueish striping)
http://www.inhs.uiuc.edu/chf/pub/surveyreports/mar-apr99/snake.gif (mostly just green, but the highlighting of the scales is sort of patterny)
http://www.kustom-kostumes.com/images/Custom%20Snake.jpg (Not green at all, and suspiciously mammalian, but if you're doing nagas, this might be good inspiration for the "female characters!")
http://www.virginialee.net/sculptures/The%20Lady%20Snake.html (Ditto, but with a cobra hood and more scales.)
