Royal Illustrator of Oz
Jul. 9th, 2004 03:02 pm-Easton Press just sent me another catalog, which inspired me to flip through my replica first edition of The Emerald City of Oz (the one with sparkly gold-green ink on the color plates) that I got from them back when I had funds.
-Criminy, but John R. Neill was a brilliant artist. Half my mental furniture in the "whimsical fantasy" department comes from him. His ability to evoke the richness and magic of a world has never been equalled.
