Car Talk: The Musical

We saw Car Talk: The Musical yesterday. It's light and short, but a lot of fun. If it moves to Broadway I imagine a lot of the Boston humor will be bleached out ("wikkit pissah"), so see it now!

On the flip side, the new Chicken-And-Waffles dish at Tavern In The (Central) Square is more like Chicken-Adjacent-To-Waffles. Both halves are tasty, but it's not an "and" experience.

Oh, what a sad chicken-and-waffle treatment. A good chicken-and-waffles has you using a nice soft waffle as a taco shell for delicious chicken and toppings, and is a joy to behold. And to eat.

Interesting -- Andy & I heard a small preview of The Musical at Taste of Cambridge and found it pretty depressing (why are the Car Talk guys bad guys, trying to make people spend money? Made no sense). Also, the Phoenix had a review that seemed in line with the excerpts we heard, so I had a pretty negative perspective. I still don't think we'll go see it, but it's nice to see a positive review to balance everything out. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Going to see something and NOT enjoying it is much worse.

The Car Talk duo are not the bad guys. They're specifically extolled for saving people thousands of dollars with their advice. This was the review I read prior to the show. I wouldn't call it high art, but it was fun and entertaining. I found the rewrites and spoofs of popular musical numbers to be very humorous. The set and singing were really well done. They've gotten a popular enough response that they're extending the run to early September. I'm not saying you have to see it, but I don't think you'd regret it if you did.
