Comics: The Past Five Years Of Avengers
Feb. 10th, 2012 09:23 amI recently picked up a few of the Avengers books written by Bendis, and decided I liked them. Eventually this led me to catching up on the past five years of Avengers "events":
Marvel Civil War: Genuinely badly written, though the core concept should have been usable.
Secret Invasion: Better, but suffers from too much decompression and an anticlimax.
Siege: Actually pretty good.
Fear Itself: Also pretty good, though the efforts to make the new bad guy wikked skary are transparent and ineffectual. (In particular, when he breaks Cap's shield, I just didn't buy it. Most of the beings who have broken his shield before have been so powerful they didn't actually need to fight the Avengers, they could just wish them out of existence. "The Serpent" isn't in that class.)
