Last part first: Everyone is home and on the mend.
Saturday afternoon, the Roo started spitting up a lot, eventually producing quite spectacular fountains. (And yet, was happy as a clam.) Because of her MCAD deficiency, this is a big deal, since if her stomach is empty too long, it could kill her. After consulting with a doctor, we took her in to the Floating Hospital, got her on a high-sugar IV, and proceeded to wait until this stomach bug worked its way through her system. Basically, this involved feeding her increasing quantities at decreasing intervals, and seeing how much she puked. Zeph/
cathijosephine and
darxus heroically fetched stuff from home for us and watched her when we needed a break. Ne'ertheless, we didn't get much sleep.
Then, in the wee hours of Monday morning,
buxom_bey came down with the bug. I called in my mother to watch Roo while Zeph checked Bobbi in through the ER to get her on an IV. (I had had maybe 2 hours of sleep in two days and needed to crash.)
At 3pm today, both Roo and Bobbi were discharged. Roo is in fine spirits, Bobbi is still sick and shlumpy. My mother followed us home to help us recover. We're sterilizing all the things, ever. Your good wishes are welcome.

Date: 2012-01-10 01:49 am (UTC)OK. Me and everyone I know can all stop going to the hospital now. I thought we made a resolution about that?
Anyway, I'm glad Roo is doing better and I hope Bobbi gets well soon and NO ONE ELSE gets sick.
later

Date: 2012-01-10 05:37 pm (UTC)I remember being startled at how un-phased kids are by this stuff, particularly given how badly I react to it myself. We try very hard not to make a big deal of it, in hopes they won't get too stigmatized by the time they're adults.
