Disaster Movies
Dec. 10th, 2011 06:18 pmThe second trailer for Battleship is out. It doesn't help at all. As near as I can tell, there isn't a single line of dialogue that isn't cribbed from another film.
I actually laughed at one moment in the Three Stooges trailer. I cannot damn with praise any fainter.

I have to ask

Date: 2011-12-12 04:45 pm (UTC)I'd also say that, of the three live-action TF movies, the first was merely intermittently entertaining, the second was truly bad, and the third was visually stunning when robots were on the screen, and largely harmless when they weren't. None of the three are high art.
That said, the advantages the TF franchise has over what I've seen of Battleship: TF is true to its premise (the Battleship game doesn't have aliens), has less cliche-ridden dialogue, has a vast mine of existing fiction to homage, has a core visual story that hasn't been done a million times (human military fighting aliens has been done a lot more than giant transforming alien robots duking it out), and has much less cliche-ridden dialogue.
