Roo: Two Inches Long
Feb. 10th, 2011 10:54 amI did some reading up on Week 12, and my child-to-be is apparently currently two inches long. My first thought was, "Gosh, hope she grows some, or she's so going to be teased at school."
My second thought was to actually try to visualize it. Two inches, that's not much. Two inches would fit in the palm of my hand. So, I pictured her in the palm of my hand. And I was promptly hit with an intense need to protect this tiny helpless thing, so full of potential. And the accompanying terrifying responsibility. And, yeah, she's not going to stay that small and fragile, but it's a big scary world, and, and, and.
Needless to say, that was a complicated emotion. But a good one, I think.

I remember the jarring experience of my visualizations changing during Pygment's pregnancy and I'm told that's a common experience.
Children are half their eventual height around age 2. She's going to be growing faster than you can believe.
