We came home yesterday to discover an unexpected package for
cathijosephine on our porch. Turns out, her application was accepted for the Google Chrome Pilot Program, and they'd sent her a free netbook. Dude!
Physically, it's dead sexy, in a very minimalist way. It's totally matte black, mildly rubberized, and completely devoid of logos or any lettering at all accept on the keyboard. The capslock key is gone, replaced with a search key. It's a dedicated netbrick-cloud-computing-browser-only machine, so it basically does not do anything if you don't have net connectivity (for the Pilot Program it comes with a subsidized 3G connection).
I've only played with it briefly. I kept trying to minimize the browser, ha ha.
It'll be interesting to see if this niche survives.
