Oddly enough, that situation rarely arises.

When it does, I say something like, "TG, don't be mean." Or, "My LJ might not be the best forum for that."

I recently caused a kerfluffle in the community of a webcomic; one person made an extremely vulgar and abusive comment to me, and I deleted it. They made it anonymously, though it was obvious from the content of the post that they were one of the other people in the thread. The anonymous bit was, I think, because they knew they were going *way* over the line, and wanted to abuse me but didn't want to undermine their identified comments.
