Most of the shirts I wear daily are either from Blair.com (two buttoned chest pockets, somewhat more rugged) or L.L. Bean (one chest pocket, more dressy). Some are long-sleeved, some are short-sleeved. I used to buy regular (non-tall) shirts, but now I get strictly talls, so they don't come untucked if I choose to tuck them in. So, that's three binary axes of difference, making for eight categories of shirts.
For a normal work day, primary sort is talls over regulars, since I wear my shirts tucked at work. At the moment, secondary sort is short-sleeve over long-sleeve, since it's so darn hot. Tertiary sort is the rugged Blair shirts over the dressy Bean shirts, since the Bean shirts wear out faster, and I thus try to spare them trips through the washer. Quaternary sort is first-in, first-out.
(This means that the last group of shirts to get worn would be long-sleeve non-talls from Bean or Blair. As it happens I don't have any of those anymore, as they've all percolated into the giveaway bin or to girlfriends.)
So this morning, in a fit of organization, I sorted out my closet so that the shirts are in the order:
(Yes, I'm deeply insane.)

Date: 2008-07-03 01:30 am (UTC)No, seriously. This is just the sort of freaky OCD hyper organization I would do, given the time/opportunity.
*grin*
You are not alone!!!

Date: 2008-07-03 02:19 am (UTC)(I periodically organize Blue's tee-shirts. I can't tell if it matters. Sometimes I try to sort them so no two of the same color are next to each other, and sometimes I try to sort them by color. But all of his shirts for daily wear are solid color pocket tees in blue green or (occasionally) purple.)

Yah, I'll separate shirts that are too much alike.
