-My main publisher, Steve Jackson Games, has just announced GURPS Fourth Edition. Naturally, I am involved. I'm currently co-authoring two books for the new edition, though (since neither is mentioned in the announcement), I'm not going to give their names here. Suffice to say, they're waycool.

-Those of you who know GURPS or the RPG industry, know that this is a big deal. GURPS has been a top-five system for years now, and has been in its third edition since the late 1980s. While this is not as big a deal as, say, D&D Third Edition, it's in the next tier down, news-wise.

(Though, to be honest, the new trade dress is, umm, well let's just say I haven't warmed to it yet. And the cover to Basic V2 is making me giggle.)

I recently read a rated-X graphic novel, and I swear that thing was in it. I swear.

Middle Finger Evolution Law. It is not important for companies and designers to improve or change their game systems, no matter how many years (or decades) they've been around. See also the Gamma World Law and SJG Law #2.

SJG Law #2. Keeping page references current is far more important than being able to actually update a game system. See also the Middle Finger Evolution Law.

Guess it's the exception that proves the rule. ;)

Anyway, sounds really exciting and it sounds like you're going to be getting a ton of new work coming out of it -- so go you!

Quick questions -- will 4th ed. fix the weird STR point buy? the overpriced claws?

Can I do the 4th ed. Bunnies and Burrows or does that bastard O'Sullivan already have it locked up?

Inquiring minds want to know
Tom

-One of the less-touted benefits of 4e is that we're no longer going to make cross-book page references, just a pointer to a section by title.

-Strength has been improved, definitely. Claws are now much cheaper.

Can I do the 4th ed. Bunnies and Burrows?

-This one is currently not on the schedule. (Though it could be a worked example in GURPS Furries, hmm...)

I hate GURPS with the heat of a thousand exploding suns!
