Yesterday we received a KitchenAid as a gift from [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey's mother. And there was much glee. As I explained to Bey, getting a KitchenAid was one of the reasons I got married in the first place.

So, we're petting it, and reading the manual, and having trouble deciding where it's going to live in the kitchen. Bey gets on the phone with her mother, to thank her and let her know it arrived. Partway through the conversation she turns to me and says, "Jon, mom knows exactly where the KitchenAid should live."

"So do I, but you like to sleep on that side of the bed."

. . . Must make cheesy bisucits soon . . .

That's very kinky.

Hey, since when is "kinky" a value judgment in our circle?

*envy*

I gotta admit, that's one of the things I daydream about when I think about marriage. :) I'm just lucky the intended boy is as big a kitchen-geek as I am!

You think that's lucky until you try to share a kitchen and tools, and you're both trying to use the same thing at the same time, then you start having debates over the merits of Henckels vs. Wusthoft, and whose geeky toys are better, and then there's the turf wars...

Yeee! KitchenAids are fun, and make certain kitcheny endeavors so much easier. I'm imagining baked goods may be in your holiday gifting this year...

What color do you have?

My bad. You're right. :)

I tend to assume that most home bakers go with the 4.5 or 5qt Artisans, but there are certainly others. I've drooled over huge stand mixers at bakeries. Or rather, stood in wide-eyed awe.

I'm guessing, from the icon, you have one as well? Pink?

one of the MIT houses was giving away one of those HUGE mixers a couple years ago. [livejournal.com profile] chillguru would not let me have it. so sad.

yup, mine is a 5qt pink Artisan. it was a group gift, which is totally awesome, but had i been left to my own devices i probably would have gone nuts and got the 6qt because i am incapable of cooking small :)

It's a "Professional 600 Stand Mixer", in nickel pearl.

It's my precious . . .

I should appreciate GLSE's KitchenAid more, especially as the holidays come near.

So, do tell...just what kind of voice-posting software are you using for this, since Bey had to have broken both of your arms for that comment? :D

KitchenAid just plain rawks!

Disproportionate retaliatory violence is really not her way. Thank god.

I must confess, I'm the not the KitchenAid geek my wife is, but I heartily supported her getting one, because I *am* a baked goods geek.

I'm so jealous!

We got married too young. Proof: our "wedding mixer" was a black and decker which I burned the motor out on long ago. It struggled with brownie batter, for Goddess' sake! I've burned through 4 since then (in 17 years), sadly the cost of the 5 of them would have covered the price of a Kitchenaid.

We live and learn.

Hey, friend me, ok? It makes me happy to see you happy. I'll just have to live with the Kitchenaid-envy. (The wife's not too shabby neither!)

eeek! That means you didn't even recognize my picture! I tried to pick the one that was most recognizable, but I guess the no-makeup/eyeglasses/not-purple-hair threw you. Not to mention Ed used to have hair, and no glasses. But I recognized you without hair! No fair.

I have this handy digital camera, but (almost) no pictures of me, coz I'm stingy with the camera. My family members are rotten at lining the subject up in the middle of the picture, so the autofocus is usually trained on the tree behind me. You wonder why I don't let them use it! The picture I included above with Ed, was taken by me, at arm's length.

Hey, read back a bit in my LJ pages, there's cool stuff about my 3 fabulous incredible adorable brilliant beautiful daughters. Not much in my own thing for bragging, but they provide me with plenty. Did I mention how great they are?

Actually, I didn't see the icon until after I'd visited your profile page, and guessed who you were.

And yes, your daughters appear to be incredible. [grin]
