-That phone interview just ended. I was speaking to the hiring manager, who seemed concerned that I was overqualified for the position, and would leave them after a month for a better-paying job. She repeatedly explained that the job would not use all of my skills, and that I might get bored. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here thinking, "Lady, if I don't get this job, I'm gonna be eating my comic book collection in lieu of food. And anyone who might hire me away from you hasn't spoken up during the past year. Gimme the job and I can promise you puppy-dog-like loyalty, dammit!"

-Still, I think I managed to reassure her. I believe one of the last things I said was, "Given the current job market, and that the position as you describe it has the possibility of advancement, I can feel confident in saying I would be with you for a long time." So, I suspect it went well. I'll be hearing back from the HR person eventually.

Well I would think that your response was reasonable and presented in a confidence-inspiring manner.

Best wishes that it turns out for the best!

"Puppy-like, without the piddling on the carpet and chewing your slippers, but with the loyalty. Did I mention I don't shed?"

I guess HR recruiters look at potential employees as aking to what some folks do dating: When you're not with anyone (unemployed), nobody seems to want you, but as soon as you're dating someone (hired), everyone wants a piece of the action! ;-) Here's hoping that you get the job, and the mangled viewpoint holds true (that you get lots of great HR offers in the near future) Huzzah!
