-Watching a Muppet Show DVD with [livejournal.com profile] mizarchivist last night, it occurred to me that the world really needs a Studio 60/Muppets mashup. The bit with Cal and the viper handler could pretty much be recast with Kermit and Lew Zealand (and his Boomerang Boas) without changing the dialog . . .

I heard Disney was thinking about doing just that very idea? A Studio 60-esque Muppet show?

Namely, that The Muppet Show (and The Jim Henson Hour) did the same thing better.

(I was really jazzed for Studio 60; the cast is great, and there have been occasional flashes of brilliance in the writing. But as the season progressed, I've been turned off by the preachiness and sloppy writing. I'm not going to miss it when it goes off the air in March, and that's too bad.)
