A Lovely Start to the Year

(I'm having trouble finding time to update LJ, so let me post what I have so far. Last weekend, Friday through mid-evening Sunday . . . )

-On Friday, Bey/buxom_bey and I went over to doeeyedbunny's new place to help her paint (and incidentally deliver assorted housewarming/Xmas gifts). Her bedroom-to-be came in a bluish-gray, and we painted over in a color carrying the name "honey bear". (Yes, it's Behr-brand paint.) Excellent choice; the bedroom really glows now. And dude, it's huge! She could fit a whole 'nother bed in there. It was nice to be able to help her with her new home. Her visits back when she lived in New York were always much-anticipated, and I'm delighted she's now living so close.

-Saturday, Bey and I loaded up the car and headed out to the wilds of Western Mass. for msbutterpecan's birthday party. She and her family are a delight. Her two daughters are charmers, her baby boy is cute as a button, and her hubby is a personable geek with a distinct resemblance to Hugh Jackman. (More of a Kate & Leopold Jackman than a Wolverine Jackman, I note.) Also present were asciikitty and nchanter, and I got a chance to catch up with them. Geography, scheduling, and schoolwork have meant I haven't seen much of msbutterpecan, asciikitty, and nchanter over the past months, and that is my loss, for

-We spent the night in Amherst, then drove back for a New Year's Eve brunch at ricevermicelli and danceboy's place, complete with bagels freshly driven in from New York. Mmm, bagels.

-That night, we started by visiting freedomthrufire and Chandra up in Salem, 'cause Bey wanted to spin some fire, baby. Chandra has some interesting friends. I remember when my hair used to do that . . .
