-Mutated meme-age, most recently from [livejournal.com profile] ceo:
  1. Pick 17 movies.
  2. Then pick quotes from each movie.
  3. Post the quotes in your journal.
  4. Have people guess what the movies are.
  5. Either strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified, or place the guesser's username directly after the quote.
  1. Looks like I'm going nowhere. Star Wars, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton/???

  3. Leave the gun. Take the cannolis. The Godfather/You've Got Mail, both [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton
  4. What are you prepared to do? The Untouchables, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton/???
  5. Always look on the bright side of life. Monty Python's Life of Brian, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton/???/???

  8. Coulda been a contender. On the Waterfront, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton/???

  13. I see dead people. The Sixth Sense, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton/???
  14. As you wish. The Empire Strikes Back, [livejournal.com profile] mrf_arch/The Princess Bride, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton
  15. Klaatu barada nikto! The Day the Earth Stood Still/Army of Darkness, both [livejournal.com profile] signsoflife
  16. I am Spartacus. Spartacus, [livejournal.com profile] nakor/That Thing You Do!, Nathaniel
  17. No ticket. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade/Dogma, both [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton

-Note: There's a trick.

(Okay, and one movie is in there twice.)

-Edit: Hmm, I think I'm going to upgrade #5 to a triple.

-Further Edits: For #13, it's pretty unfair to try to expect you to read my mind as to exactly which one I'm thinking of. So I won't expect anyone to get it. #6 has amusement value, because it's spoken by Dreyfus in Jaws, and to him in Stakeout (during a movie trivia contest). And #9 was spoken by Paul Gleason in both movies, which delights me no end.

2. are you quoting an homage?
10. T2.
12. ditto, with the homage question.
13. I'm really getting interested in your intended answers here.
15. Army of Darkness/The Day the Earth Stood Still
16. Okay, you're clearly going for a double reference pattern, which is kind of cool.

Nah, my train of thought was more, 2: you have GOT to be kidding. 12: seriously, are you joking? 13: okay, there's got to be something going on here. 15: oh, I even know where AoD GOT that from . . . *the light dawns*

Not really. I couldn't guess the second film for some of the quotes, unless #4 was also quoted in "Speed"

I'm guessing #15's the trick and you're drawing from _Army of Darkness_ and not the obvious source.
And I believe #10 was in both I & II, but I don't think III.

Not III.
In T3, the quote was "If you want to live, come on!" which sucks.

#6 is from Jaws, also, Stakeout (Emilio Estevez quizzes Richard Dreyfuss on movie quotes)
#8 is from On The Waterfront, also, Jake LaMotta quotes OTW in his dressing room, in Raging Bull
#16 is from Spartacus, and the drummer quotes this movie in That Thing You Do!

ooh, good, I haven't gone crazy yet! Not completely, anyway. But that line really was in the movie I thought it was.

You should definitely see Raging Bull. I thought it was amazing. And I'm using my Punch-Out!! icon in tribute to the movie's greatness.

How long did it take you to figure that out?! And I've got nuthin' on any of the remainders, unless I cheat. And even then the obvious ones are going to overwhelm the not obvious ones.

2. an unlikely but definitely accurate guess: Play it again, Sam.

as for #13: that's not entirely fair. That line has been used as parody in a lot of places!

Play it again, Sam.

-Yup!

That line has been used as parody in a lot of places!

-Well, true. Some hints: In the movie I'm thinking of, it's actually, "I see dead people! I see dead people!". And it's not spoken by a human.

I'm going to guess The Two Towers, probably spoken by Gimli. But I haven't watched it since 2002, so I'm not sure.
