-On Saturday, Bey/[livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey and I had [livejournal.com profile] inthatoneway, [livejournal.com profile] nchanter, [livejournal.com profile] doctor_toc, and Tara over for RoboRally and brunch. My plan was for a short intro game and then a longer game, but we barely got through the intro game before folks had to leave — it took somewhere between three and four hours. (On reflection, the lack of archive points between the first two flags, and my placement of the second flag, were probably the factors that made it difficult.) Still, everyone had a blast, and we're definitely going to do it again. I was particularly pleased to get a chance to spend time with Doc Toc and Tara before they move away.

(And, here's a link to an example of RoboRally with custom-built 3D board elements. Not quite as cool as doing it with functional Lego conveyor belts, but still pretty.)

We've always played with an unofficial secondary goal: After you get the last flag, you should use your remaining moves to either get crushed or fall to your doom.

I love RoboRally but it is prone to suffering from the problem that the player out in the lead often isn't having as much fun as the people still trapped back in the pack.
