Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 Reviewed
Aug. 10th, 2006 08:05 am-So, Aaron Sorkin (West Wing) has a new TV show this September, called Studio 60. It's basically about the cast and crew of a Saturday Night Live-like show. NBC is doing an experiment, and has released the pilot on DVD through Netflix. Bey/
buxom_bey and I watched it last night.
-What's it like? Well, it's a lot like Sorkin's earler show Sports Night, in that it's about the making of a TV show. A lot of the roles match up one-for-one. The cast is very familiar. Matthew "Friends" Perry, Bradley "West Wing" Whitford, Amanda "Identity" Peet, Steven "Wings" Weber, etc. It has a much bigger budget than Sports Night — it's a West Wing kinda budget. And, unlike Sports Night, it's not being shoehorned into the sitcom mold, so it gets to be whatever it wants to be. The writing is excellent, so far. Bey and I might not watch it on TV, but we'll certainly pick up the DVDs when they come 'round.
