-In the past week I've seen both Superman Returns and Pirates OTC2. Plus, the trailers for Spider-Man 3 (Dude! The Saga of the Black Costume!) and a teaser trailer for Transformers (live-action). The latter had both
buxom_bey and me bouncing up and down in our seats (even if the closest you get to seeing a Transformer is Megatron's shadow).
-As to the movies . . . SR was not a complete home run, but it was damnfine. Reeve is still a better Superman than Routh, but Spacey redefines Luthor delightfully . . . and isn't afraid to be bald, either. The special effects were astounding, though they didn't manage to top the shuttle sequence in the rest of the film, in my opinion. Still, highly recommended. Every generation needs a Superman.
-Pirates was intense pirate-y goodness from start to finish. The original wasn't afraid to add supernatural elements to the pirates genre, and this one ratcheted it up even higher. And Depp is adorable. Also highly recommended.

Date: 2006-07-10 03:26 am (UTC)Come on. Bright read instantly-recognizeable costume; witty reparte during high-stakes battles which always come off in a manner more picturesque than logically possible; A name and reputation that sends chills down the spine of any given denizen of an entire region...
Oh and a big scary cursed ship, innocents lured into his service...
What else does he need? That is, beyond a hero who consistently foils his plans for world domination.

Date: 2006-07-10 09:24 pm (UTC)I'm glad SOMEONE else liked PotC II!! I dont get why people didn't like it! It may not be the most brilliant movie in the world but it's not that much worse than the first one. I expected PIRATES and FUN and POSSIBLY SEXINESS and got everything *I* wanted!
