Arisia, What I Missed

-Actually, let me do the "eh" stuff before the good stuff.
-I didn't get to see the art show. I usually try to make at least one pass through there, but this year I never seemed to have the time. This is a sadness, as I understand there were sheep.
-I made only the most cursory visits to the dealer's room and row. On the first two hands, I am on a budget, and I rarely buy anything anyway ("Oh, look, more fantasy garb. Next!"), but there might have been a pleasant and inexpensive surprise lurking in there somewhere. So, meh.
-I really enjoy group meals at Arisia. They give me a wonderful sense of community and family. This year, Bey/
buxom_bey and I had trouble drumming up people for our meals, and so it was usually just the two of us. The one exception was Sunday brunch with Liz/
doeeyedbunny,
jadasc, and Cate. So we had wonderful company, but the meal suffered from terrible service.
-I feel like I didn't get quite as much time as I would have liked to sit someplace comfy and watch the con go by. Which is odd, since I actually spent probably a couple hours doing just that.
-Possibly the reason I feel that way comes from the fact that the personal connections I made at the con were mostly with a small group of people, and intense, while the rest of the people I saw, I only got to spend fleeting moments with them. There's a middle ground there which I missed out on, and is often filled by A) extended couch-conversations, or B) group meals. Not to mention, two very good friends of mine, who in past years I have had serious Quality Time with at Arisia, this year seemed a bit . . . distant.
-Maybe people were just tired. Maybe I was just tired; I went straight from Atlanta to the Plaza, and may have burned up my people-energy on my panels.
-But, all that "eh" stuff aside, the good stuff was very good. And will be posted soon.

Hopefully, it will not be the only time I put work in the show.
