-My old friend Amelia/[livejournal.com profile] amelia_g has offered me the position of RPG editor for Blue Blood, the online magazine of (one might judge from the front page) scary goth chicks on laundry day. This isn't like becoming, say, foreign news editor for the New York Times, but I do get to write a column once a month on the RPG biz, which is a great way to achieve more name recognition. Plus, I get to help out and work with an old friend, and make a few bucks too.

-So, the column needs a name. At the moment I'm thinkin' one word in the name should be "Dungeon", but I haven't decided what the rest should be. I've considered "From the Dungeon", "Dungeon Keeper", "Dungeon Master", and "Dungeon Crawler", but the middle two are trademarks and egotistical, and the first is trite and pretentious. "Dungeon Crawler" isn't too bad -- it's mildly self-effacing, and evokes the topic (the earliest form of roleplaying is now often referred to as 'dungeon crawling'). But, if you think of something better, comment here. If I use your idea, I'll credit you in the first column, and send you a game-related gift from my stack of eBay stuff.

I'd be concerned about counterbalancing the "Dungeons & Dragons" image of RPGs with something to suggest a broader range.

Like "Dungeons & Spaceships" or something like that.

But I wouldn't even put "Dungeon" in the title, so what do I know?

"Wyrms, Weirdos, and Dice".

I agree that the dungeon thing is too limiting, and also might I add, kind of obvious.

I'd use a title that incorporates the terms "role/s," "role-playing," or just "playing," since that sort of thing can be a sexy double-entendre.

If you're going ot use the word Dungeon how about Notes from the Dungeon or Passages of the Dungeon.

I'm sort of with a few of your responders in that Dungeon is somewhat limiting. Maybe use something along the lines of Passages from Other Worlds. I see the word Passages with a few definitions that fit w/in RPGs - a Passage of text on whats going on in the RPG world, a Passage as in a journey - the game being a journey (often involving a journey of some sort I believe - though I'm not an RPG player) and a Passage as in a pathway in a place.

Anyway just some suggestions to help out.

"Passages" has merit in the abstract, but referring to anything I write as "passages" is too highfalutin for me. I'm also tempted by "Wyrms, Weirdos, and Dice". But, I think something about "roles" might be best -- maybe "Playing Roles".
