Unannounced Project WOMI -- Announced!
Dec. 12th, 2003 11:39 am-My publisher gave me permission to talk about WOMI, which stands for...
-Based upon the popular Monster Island tabletop giant monster wargame, World of Monster Island turns that setting into a full-fledged roleplaying world. In this RPG, you can play members of the elite United Nations Science Alert Corps, there to protect humanity from rampaging creatures, or any of a thousand other kinds of characters.
-World of Monster Island is being published by Firefly Games, and will probably run around 128 pages. I (Jonathan Woodward) am writing (well, actually, "have written") the world material, and my distinguished co-author Patrick Sweeney will be doing the rules. We expect to release it around the end of 2004. (Yeah, a year from now. My share of the writing may be done, but there's still lots more to do.)
-And thus do I get to make money off my giant monster obsession.
-Hmm, looks like I switched back and forth between marketing-speak and my more flip LJ-speak there. Oh well.
-And, just the other day I was making a purchase at Pandemonium, and the new guy behind the register says, "Woodward . . . Jonathan? I loved your GURPS Godzilla. Are you going to be doing anything else like that?" [grin]
