-Will Eisner died today. The word everyone seems to be using to describe his contributions to the comic book field is "giant", and I'm in complete agreement. He did more innovative work in one issue of The Spirit than some comics creators do in their whole careers. Prior to the publication of Understanding Comics, Eisner's Comics and Sequential Art was essentially the only textbook in the field. Heck, he invented the term "sequential art", not to mention "graphic novel". Further, in an industry where Jews have often submerged their identity (e.g., Stanley Lieber becoming "Stan Lee", Jacob Kurtzberg becoming "Jack Kirby") Eisner raised awareness of Jewish culture in the field, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Federation for Jewish Culture, in 2002.

70 more damn words, and it'll be an even thousand for the day. Then I can take a hot shower and go to bed.

(We're back to Azulia. Words so far: The Tax Rebellion, city stats, a few words on the resident undead, and sites 'n structures.)
