Too Tired For Poly? Nah...
Jul. 28th, 2004 11:33 pm-Now that I'm doing full-time work, however, temporarily, I'm short on the energy needed to write a really good poly-filter post. I also note that my poly posts so far have been kinda downers. So, this one is brief, but positive:
-An upside of poly, for those who haven't yet tried it: You might discover that your lovers have been conspiring to make you happy.
-Also in the glee department, I have managed to schedule dates this weekend with my primary, Jen/
anotherjen, and the two other most-important women in my life, Bey/
buxom_bey and Hannah/
watercolorblue. I cavort in most undecorous joy.
-Of course, that last paragraph comes close to violating one of my rules, which is "The women in my life are not interchangeable." Don't treat your partners like a bullet list. But, "poly" means "many", so eventually more than one will end up sharing a sentence. So long as I don't start referring to anyone as Girl One, Girl Two, etc., I think I'll be forgiven.
-Oh, and I've now used the phrase "women in my life" a buncha times. It's useful verbal shorthand (substituting "men" or "people" for "women" as appropriate) for encompassing primaries, secondaries, tertiaries, partners, spouses, girl/boyfriends, friends-with-benefits, f*ckbuddies, snugglebunnies, etc. I think it carries a nice connotation of chosen family; these are people I have welcomed into my life.

Date: 2004-07-29 10:23 am (UTC)That's nice when it happens. It never really quite happened for me when I had more than one sweetie simultaneously, mostly because the longer-established (and long-distance) one resented Trowa and completely blasted me for daring to introduce them 2 Arisias ago because he didn't get to choose the time himself. I think Trowa would have been happy to do such things because, well, he's a nicer person. On the flip side, I occasionally tried doing that with my ex-husband and his partner at the time, but personality conflicts eventually ended up making that impossible.
Glad to see it's working out for you, though. :) I like to see people being happy.
