buxom_bey and I were watching the end of the bad-but-pretty disaster movie 2012 last night.

Bey: Hey, if we're ever in a life-or-death situation like that, where Roo only gets to keep one parent, which should it be?
Me: You.
Bey: But, you're the bigger breadwinner. You can take care of her better.
Me: If it's the end of the world like in the movie, I'm not sure they're going to need software engineers more than administrative assistants.
Bey: Well, no, but say it's a sinking ship, and there's only two seats left on the lifeboat. One's for Roo. The other, you or me?
Me: You.
Bey: Really?
Me: I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I took your seat. I would bonk you on the head and shove you in the boat.
Bey: Aww. ...Hey, wait, you have life insurance. The breadwinner thing doesn't matter.
Me: ...We both have life insurance, sweetie. In case I change my mind.
