Events of the Days
Nov. 8th, 2006 03:16 pm-What have I been up to?
-Well, the major wedding-planning stuff has been done, but Bey/
buxom_bey and I are now noodling about details. The cake and the table decor are both in a state of quantum flux. (I don't think she's going to go for my idea of having the cake toppers be Gomez and Morticia Addams.)
-Saturday, Bey and I went to the Circlet Press fundraiser-slash-cocktail party (they're a local publisher of erotica), where we met some interesting people, chatted about the economics of publishing, and hopefully helped their finanical situation. At one point Bey and I were talking with the hostess,
ceciliatan, and a photographer from the Cambridge Chronicle started snapping pics of us. It's hard to have a conversation when you're also subtly straightening your jacket and making sure your chin isn't doubling. Afterward, the photog asked for our names, and then asked, "And are you two also writers?"
"I'm a writer," I replied. I then considered the context. "I'm not a writer of erotica," I carefully qualified . . .
-So, what with a likely appearance in the Chronicle, and the way I ended up in that TV ad for Pandemonium Books, I'm starting to accumulate an interesting body of work . . .
-Sunday, I had a date with the delightful
mizarchivist, during which we shopped (Pandemonium), ate pizza, shopped some more (Pearl Arts, Christmas Tree Shops, A.C. Moore Crafts), and then went back to my place, where I lured her over to the Sorkin side of the force with the pilot of The West Wing.
-Yesterday, a very nice dinner with
nchanter at the Elephant Walk in Cambridge. I had the orange duck, she had a chicken dish, and then we split a chocolate-raspberry-etc. dessert. The food was delicious; the company reminded me that I am blessed to count an inordinate number of beautiful, smart, kind women as friends.
