Drums, Love, and Giant Robots
Mar. 6th, 2005 08:15 pm-This past Friday, I went with Annie/
asciikitty to Drum & Dance out near Amherst. Of the hundred or so people there, I knew Annie,
msbutterpecan, her nefarious hubby (both of whom I've met once before), and one other person I kinda recognized, maybe. And I don't dance much, or drum, and I'm not pagan (tho' I'm pagan-sympathetic). So, of course, I was in a big socially-intimidated headspace. I've discovered I run through a pretty predictable set of emotions in such situations: A) A desire to outdo, B) a desire to subvert, and C) a desire to mock. Fotunately, none of those three emotions hung around for long, and I recognized them for what they were (i.e., me being socially uncomfortable). In the end, I had fun, and want to go again. Annie and I then crashed at the home of a couple she knows, and headed back in the morning (as I had a date with Bey/
buxom_bey that afternoon).
-I suspect I probably wasn't a lot of fun at Drum & Dance, and that Annie probably wanted to spend more time with her friends out there than actually happened. I want to thank her for inviting me into this part of her life, for putting up with any moodiness I may have exhibited, for adapting to my schedule, and for being one of the most wonderful women I know. Annie, I love you.
-Speaking of the L-word . . . Saturday afternoon, as mentioned above, I had a date with Bey. As I was a bit wiped out, we merely lazed around her living room, and watched Ghost in the Shell 2 and The Iron Giant, which she had never seen. In between, there was kissing, and at one point, I whispered into her ear, for the first time, "I love you." And I do. Bey, I love you.
(Not least because you cried at the end of Iron Giant. [smooch])
