-I like to steal and mutate ideas from my friends, for incorporation in the RPG settings I write. For example, in Azulia there are huge social conflicts over the right way to bring new babies into the world . . . which derives from a discussion I had with
hawkegirl last year over the midwife controversy in New York.
-Similarly, I've been looking for a nifty riff on firespinning. I came up with a severely decadent one, that unfortunately doesn't fit in Azulia.
But . . . I'm currently working on the nomadic religion, which is dualistic and includes a sun god and an earth goddess. I just got to the bit about their wedding rituals, and I see a perrrfect place for firespinning there . . . It's getting these good ideas into print that makes the agony of birthing a book worthwhile, I swear.
-Anyway, well over a kiloword today, and I'm very pleased with the way the mostly-non-sexist, dualistic, nomadic religion contrasts with the sexist, monotheistic, city religion, despite the fact that they're closely related.
-Inventing religions is fun! That's probably why there's a special place in Dante's Hell for people who try it . . .
