-Busy couple of days, which is why I am behind on Unannounced Projects WOMI and B. My Friday and Saturday included:

Friday early evening: My friend Michelle Kawka-Reed was having a showing at a downtown Boston gallery. Her photography exhibit "Big Brother" was part of a showing on "Individual Concerns". Good stuff! Sinister without bonking you on the head. And Michelle looked smashing as always. My sis, bro-in-law, and bro were also there, and we segued into...

Friday late evening: Dinner at the Bay Tower with the 'rents to celebrate my father's 60th birthday. The view from the BT was spectacular as always, and the service was 90% perfect. Pity the food wasn't as good as I remember. Don't get me wrong, I've had twenty worse meals in the past week, but when I was last at the BT, the food was in the Omigod category. This time we all seemed a bit "eh" about it. Anyway, much happy family discussion, everyone's healthy, etc.

Saturday: Hooked up early with Jen/[livejournal.com profile] anotherjen & Ilana to make a day of it. Drove up to Beverly to hook up with her father and stepmother, and go pumpkin hunting. They seem like very nice people, and I got some yummy maple syrup candy at the farm we went to. We then went to a restaurant in Gloucester where her father's band was playing. A free meal, good 1940s-style music, and (whoa!) Whoopi Goldberg showed up to tend bar. She owns a house in the area, and likes to hang out at this restaurant. Didn't manage to come up with a ploy to meet her, and she was getting quite enough of the "Oh please oh please can I get my picture taken with you?" stuff. Ilana's 2.75-year-old cuteness didn't do the trick. Another time perhaps. We then went to the Apple Cider party, by which point we were all kinda losing energy, and Ilana's temperature was up. So we didn't stay too long, and headed back to Somerville/Medford. Dropped off Jen and Ilana, came home to shower and attempt to re-energize, then went to Kimberly/[livejournal.com profile] kimberlogic's Pirate Birthday Party. Fun was had, though I was too beat to scintillate. Still, learned new names, gabbed with friends, ate good food, no complaints. I mean, apart from the lack of pirate wenches throwing themsevles at my feet...

(Should mention, Jen and I are still getting along spectacuarly well. And Ilana is the perfect kid, though I suppose it helps that I get to hand her to her mother when there's a problem...)

-Today I catch up on my eBay business, clean house, sort laundry, and write as much as I can. Dammit, I still need to see Kill Bill at some point, but it won't be today...

-I slept in a bit today, since the last couple days have been so busy. I caught up with eBay stuff. I listed some books for auction. I ate two meals, one while watching an hour of the Superman director's commentary. I skimmed a couple of items that are going to be auctioned. I read some of the existing canon material for Unannounced Project B. I made some minor changes to the proposed outline for same, and sent them off to potential co-author. I sent some questions about same to potential co-author and editors. I made an LJ post, read some LJ, got caught up on the Pyramid newsgroups. I did my laundry, some vacuuming, and tidied my work area. I surfed job sites for jobs, and sent a ping off to my headhunter.

-I didn't watch any other televsion or movies, I didn't go to see Kill Bill, I didn't do any pleasure reading, I didn't play any Morrowind, I didn't visit my sweetie.

-And I still didn't get more than a dozen words written for Unannounced Project WOMI. Garrgh. I need 33,000 more words for WOMI before end of year, and preferably much sooner, since Project B needs as much time as it can get. Grapple, grapple.

-This is why I have a new rule: Only one social thing per day. I had lots of fun Friday and Saturday -- and I wouldn't trade the memories for anything -- but I got no work done. This also probably means that January is going to be "one social thing, full stop". I'm gonna do Arisia, but nothing else that I'm not absolutely obligated to do.
